I'm going to have to go with two as favorites this week. "I shot the wind out of his saddle." and
"It’s like shooting fish in a barrel of monkeys." Each sentence brought a vivid image as soon as I read it.
I’m curious what image you pictured with "I shot the wind out of his saddle." To me that is such a head-scratcher that I draw a blank on imagining it!
There was a gap between the saddle and the horse’s back, through which the wind blew. A carefully placed shot brought the saddle back where it belonged. Alternatively, the saddle ballooned, and the wind had to be shot out of it.
