Isn't that a grand image? I hesitated to use it, because the quote is by another person; however, Poe's life, reputation, struggles, and imminent death just felt like a perfect fit. As well, the daguerreotype was damaged when someone who was in possession of it tried to "clean" it, if you can even imagine. All factors seem to contribute to the chilling yet intriguing circumstances described in the quote.

There is also daguerreotype of Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt . . . I really love seeing the greats in the 19th c. arts as they were in life.
