In the middle of Spooky Season, there are so many ways to be afraid, but how can we fear new things if we don’t know the words for them?
Find a new phobia, or maybe just a great new word to describe something bizarre…
…like phobophobia - the fear of fear. FDR would not approve. (If you don’t know who that is or get the reference, you really need to look it up, because, History. And it might help before reading this post, too!)
skiaphobia - fear of shadows
pediculophobia - fear of lice
spectrophobia - fear of looking in the mirror
pediophobia - fear of dolls
ophthalmophobia - fear of being stared at
amathophobia - fear of dust
stygiophobia - fear of hell
lygophobia - fear of the dark
hylophobia - fear of wooded areas
merinthophobia - fear of being bound
coprophobia - fear of excrement
staurophobia - fear of the cross
homilophobia - fear of sermons
taphephobia - fear of cemeteries, being buried alive
thanatophobia - fear of death or dying
deipnophobia - fear of dining and dining conversation
aichurophobia - fear of being touched by pointed objects
bogyphobia - fear of demons and goblins
taeniophobia - fear of tapeworms
thassophobia - fear of sitting idle
hamartophobia - fear of sin
hematophobia - fear of the sight of blood
and…
the scariest one I found…
arachibutyrophobia - fear of getting peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth
(or, in the case of anyone not from the U.S., getting any peanut butter in your mouth! Or root beer! Which is fine, because we’ll keep our gross foods if you keep your Marmite / Vegemite on their respective continents. Love ya, cousins!)
Do you have any favorite phobias to infest others’ nightmares?

Fear of peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth? Now I’ve heard everything 😂
I don't think anyone in Australia has an equivalent fear of Vegemite. The closest would have to be the fear of running out of it 😂
